Once you get a Tamukeyama Japanese Maple, you know you have a winner. This weeping variety gets its looks going in the early spring with a leaf color of dark-purple reds amidst a blanket of small crimson flowers. Summer brings dark shades of reds followed by a bright scarlet in autumn. No wonder this hardy deciduous tree won a gold medal from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
